Brilliant moment a dog jumping for joy when his owners gathered around a cake and sang Happy Birthday to him.

Nobody loves their birthday as much as Dakota the chocolate lab. The sweet and smiley pooch has won the hearts of thousands after being filmed literally hopping with happiness as his humans sang him Happy Birthday over a candle-topped cake.

'He loves it when we set fire to food and then sing about it,' wrote Dakota's owner on Tumblr. 'Happy Birthday, to a good old dog.'

The video, which was originally posted on Tumblr last year by Dakota's owner, has received over 98,000 views on YouTube since being re-uploaded in May.

In the original Tumblr post, Dakota's owner - posting under the name of Merlynm - explained that the beloved family pooch's birthday is on November 17, and that the video was filmed on his eighth birthday.

At the start of the clip, Dakota, called Koty by his family, is seen being fitted with a multi-colored party hat by one of his owners while a group of people are heard off-camera launching into a rendition of Happy Birthday.

The adorable pup is stood next to a large bone-shaped cake, resting on the dining table, which has a burning red candle placed on top of it.

Quite a treat: For his birthday, Dakota is given a bone-shaped birthday cake complete with a candle.

Just can't hide it: Dakota can't stop hopping with excitement as he is sung to by his family members.

Seemingly oblivious to the other, smaller white dog dashing about his feet, Dakota seems utterly delighted that his owners are all looking his way.

As the singing continues, Koty's tail wags so hard that his whole body sways and he begins to cry with excitement.

He also begins bouncing up and down, lifting both of his front legs into the air repeatedly and lifting his snout upwards.

Wagging away: Dakota's tail is wagging so hard in the video that his whole body is seen swaying with it.

As the song ends with a resounding 'woooo!', one of the party guests blows out the candle on behalf of the birthday boy.

The end of the video sees Dakota and his little white companion turn their attention towards the cake as their owner removes the candle.

'Here Koty, let me take a picture with you!' exclaims a man off camera at the end of the 20-second clip.

According to the original Tumblr post, Dakota was turning eight years old at the time of the video on November 17 last year, meaning he just turned nine earlier this month.
